The Emirates: Old Trafford BAPO Event

This was a goooood ceilidh! The annual conference for BAPO (the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists) was held in Manchester…we were invited down to play for their big conference dinner.

Susan was unavailable, celebrating her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary (yeah, congratulations to the Millers for that milestone!), so Raymie was roped into our latest Jiggered adventure! The roadtrip was banter-filled but incident-free. Ideal.

The dinner was being held in The Members’ Room at The Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Club. The views from our rooms over the international sporting venue were breathtaking. The meal we were served in our executive box after setting up was pretty special too!
Starter: Horseradish and herb crust coated salmon, warm salad of greens and baby potatoes, micro shoots and house vinaigrette. Main: Pork fillet stuffed with chorizo and caramelised apple wrapped in streaky bacon, lyonnaise potato, spiced red cabbage and rootsnDessert: White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, cranachan quenelle and fruit. Yum.

The ceilidh was a massive hit, especially with a significant chunk of the Conference delegates alumni of Strathclyde. Emma’s vocals were praised over and over while Ewan’s drumming was particularly impressive!

And Sandie and Ashley, our hosts for the evening involved in organising the event were first class- a pleasure to work with!

A whirlwhind visit to England but a fantastic experience…
