Burns' Ceilidh 2 of 3
Jiggered have played at Townhead Church, Newmilns, loads of times in the past. This might just edge it as the best one yet. The place was packed with folk: friends, colleagues, family, neighbours, haggis-addressers, former pupils of Mr Smith, randoms, potential stand-ins, budding poets…we had a great time.
The first half flew in. After this, Paul gave his entertaining address to the “chieftain o’ the puddin’ race” before everyone tucked in to their haggis, neeps and tatties. After all that was washed down with Scotland’s finest (Irn Bru) we were treated to various cute perfomances from youngsters who’d learned some Scottish poetry!
A short second half ended, as ever, with an Orcadian Strip the Willow, Auld Lang Syne and plenty of cheers and smiling faces. Loved it.
Two Burns’ Ceilidhs done. One more to go!
