Back at The National Piping Centre
Last summer we played a gig for the wonderful author, TV and radio presenter Sally Magnusson. Sally kindly wrote us the following review of our performance which I’m shamelessly reminding everyone of:
“So glad I heard Jiggered at the wedding and booked you for our big family ceilidh. Just under 150 Icelanders, Danes, English folk and Scots had the night of their lives and I’m still basking in the praise. I was impressed all over again by your musicality, your enthusiasm and your good-natured ability to guide a roomful of flailing dancers into something approaching a proper set.”
Sally Magnusson, BBC | Family ceilidh, July 2014, Aberfoyle
It turns out that Sally wasn’t the only one who loved Jiggered’s style. Sally’s kids were at our latest ceilidh and while we were chatting last night Magnus said that he only found out earlier in the day that we were playing and was buzzing because of all the ceilidh bands he’s heard we’re “hands down the best”! High praise from such a talented bunch (there was a half-time show featuring a video and musical number from a large bunch of young folk from the family which entertained the rest of the wedding guests).
And Julie must have enjoyed hearing us last summer as she booked us up for her wedding saying “Love the change of musical style and Emma’s calling.”
The National Piping Centre is a cracking venue! Brilliant stage for the band, dancefloor for the dancers and I’m still thinking about that buffet the morning after!
The crowd danced away right till the big finish and the crescendo of applause at the end of the evening was fab!
