Edinburgh's Prestonfield Wedding

It was a pleasure to play for Nik and Becky’s wedding. Emma and I were honoured to play at the service (both for the congregational singing and also during the signing of the register), held in the picturesque St Mary’s Church, Dalkeith. My favourite part of the wedding ceremony was the moment when the pastor, David, asked for the rings. The best man patted his pockets, and worriedly looked to the first usher. He checked his pockets and continued the panic by looking to the next usher. This usher didn’t have any rings either and turned to find they’d run out of ushers. The chain of worried looks went back up the line until the rings were produced. A charming wee moment which broke ice and captured a snapshot of this fun-loving couple.

While the guests went off for the wedding breakfast, Emma and I had a snooze (it’s hard work being in Jiggered!).

The whole Jiggered team were reunited at the evening reception, held at Edinburgh’s luxurious 5-star Prestonfield. James, the sound engineer sorted us out and it was simply a lovely event, in a lovely venue for a lovely bunch of folk. We had a great time and lots of the crowd came over for a blether- I’m sure we’ll be playing for many of these guys in the future. They loved the Jiggered ceilidh. Nik and Becky changed into Indian outfits and led a crowd-filling set of bhangra tunes.

Lots of laughs from the bride, groom, family, friends and band. Magic stuff.
